Christian McBride is an eight-time GRAMMY-winning bassist, composer, and bandleader. He is the Artistic Director of the historic Newport Jazz Festival, the New Jersey Performing Arts Center (NJPAC), the TD James Moody Jazz Festival, and the National Jazz Museum in Harlem. McBride is also a respected educator and advocate for youth, and serves as Artistic Director of Jazz House KiDS and the Jazz Aspen Snowmass Summer Sessions. In addition to artistic directing and consistent touring with his ensembles, he hosts NPR’s “Jazz Night in America” and "The Lowdown: Conversations With Christian" on SiriusXM. Whether behind the bass or away from it, Christian McBride is always part of the music. From jazz to R&B, and pop/rock and hip-hop/neo-soul to classical, he is a luminary with one hand ever reaching for new heights, and the other extended in fellowship—and perhaps the hint of a challenge—inviting us to join him.

For this show he is joined by four rising young master instrumentalists including saxophonist Nicole Glover, guitarist Ely Perlman, pianist Mike King, and drummer Savannah Harris.

Chicago native Michael King, a virtuosic pianist, discovered his love for music through playing drums in church at age 4, later transitioning to piano and organ by ear at 14. He is an alumnus of Lincoln Park High School and Oberlin Conservatory, having earned scholarships to attend the Thelonious Monk Institute and Ravinia Jazz Scholars program. Michael has shared the stage with jazz luminaries like Bobby Watson, Kevin Eubanks, Dave Liebman, and others, and currently tours internationally with artists including DeeDee Bridgewater, Theo Croker's DVRK FUNK, and Marcus Printup.

Savannah Harris, a New York City-based drummer, composer, and producer, was raised in Oakland, California by musician parents and discovered her passion for drums at age 2. Steeped in jazz tradition, she connects this genre to diverse diasporic and folkloric music. Savannah has collaborated with indie and experimental artists like Helado Negro, Georgia Anne Muldrow, and Nick Hakim, while also recording jazz albums with Peter Evans, María Grand, and Or Bareket. She tours extensively with Christian McBride, Cecile McLorin Salvant, and Kenny Barron, and received the Harlem Stage Emerging Artist Award in 2019 after earning her master’s in jazz performance from Manhattan School of Music.

Nicole Glover, a New York City-based saxophonist, composer, and educator, is acclaimed for her work in jazz and beyond. Her recent album "Strange Lands" with pianist George Cables earned critical praise and remained at the top of Jazzweek radio charts for 11 weeks. Nicole is a key member of ARTEMIS and also collaborates with bassist Christian McBride, Wynton Marsalis, and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra. As an esteemed educator, Nicole teaches at Princeton University, Manhattan School of Music, and the San Francisco Conservatory of Music, sharing her passion for music with aspiring artists worldwide.

Ely Perlman is a guitarist, composer, and producer from Tel Aviv, Israel, currently studying at Berklee College of Music. He performs with Christian McBride's latest band and collaborates with esteemed artists like Shai Maestro and Ben Wendel. Ely leads his own jazz quartet and indie band "SWIMS," and recently released his debut single "All We Got" while working on his first self-produced album.
