Nomad: Grant Green Project

Nomad: The Grant Green Project is a sextet of musicians hailing from Detroit and Ann Arbor who initially came together in October of 2018 to perform Grant Green's 1965 album “Idle Moments.” Guitarist Alex Anest has assembed his band with some of the best artists in the area including Janelle Reichman on tenor, Alexis Lombre on piano, Peyton Miller on vibes, Eric Nachtrab on bass, and Gayelynn McKinney on drums. This time around the group will play tunes from “Solid” and “Idle Moments,” two of Grant's most renowned records. There are some rarely played pieces on these sides, including the Duke Pearson compositions “Nomad” and “Minor League,” George Russel's “Ezz-Thetic,” and some tunes by Green himself, “Grant's Tune” and “Jean De Fleur.” There will also be a few tunes by Anest and Reichman. Nomad: The Grant Green Project promises to be an exciting evening of straight ahead jazz.
