Don Hicks & Friends: Remembering Kenny Dorham
A night of music to raise funds and awareness for the National Kidney Foundation
For jazz aficionados, the name Kenny Dorham has come to be the very definition of “underrated”. For Jazz Greats, Kenny Dorham was never underrated—he was rated top of the class. Kenny stepped into the shoes of Miles Davis, Dizzy Gillespie, and Clifford Brown. He was a brilliant performer, composer, and singer. Still, these days few among the general public remember Kenny.
For one night, The Blue LLama Jazz Club is going to try and remedy this intolerable situation! Please join Blue LLama’s own Proprietor, Don Hicks, and our Artistic Director, Dave Sharp, as they are joined by Jesse Kramer on Drums, Bobby Streng on Tenor Saxophone, Matt Martinez on Trombone, Adam Mosley on Piano and Owl DiBlassio on congas.
Kenny Dorham passed away at the all too young age of 48 from kidney disease. All music fees and charges in the evening will be donated to the National Kidney Foundation of Michigan, and will further be matched by a donation from Multiverse Investments.
